I'm typing this from the SFO airport, only a little over an hour until my flight. Crazy! I get into Los Angeles around midnight, leave at 2am, arrive in Panama City around 10:30am, leave at 3:30pm, and arrive in Quito at 5:20pm. Lots of flying, but fortunately it's only a 2-hour time difference.
The first program I'm doing focuses on condors in Ecuador. The good thing is that it sounds like I'll be staying in the researcher section of a hotel, meaning fairly reliable internet (Peru will be a different story...). I'll spend Sunday night in a hostel in Quito, and then bright and early Monday morning I'll meet one of the project coordinators and two other students at a bus stop so we can travel up to the project site together.
Not sure what the work schedule will be like, or when I'll have opportunities to update this blog, but hopefully I'm able to get something out at least once a week. I've turned off my phone (and left it in CA), but you're more than welcome to email, facebook, chat, etc.
See you all next year!
